The show debuted on October 12, 1972, and ran on Sky until June 25, 2020. In December 2016, the station Sesamo renewed for full co-production with the network, with stars including Elmo Grover, Come Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, and Bel, the only Sesame Street show to frame the scenes.
Sesamo is the Brazilian version of the popular American children's show Sesame Street. The non-profit educational organization behind the show (now known as Children's Television Workshop) was originally broadcast in Brazil by the Brazilian channel TV Cultura from 1972 to 1977 and returned to the Brazilian airwaves in October 2007 with a new block of programming under the Sesamo brand. The show was also set to air on SBT in October 2019, as one of the skits on Children's Day.
